B-TO-B OR NOT TO BE
ONE SILICON ALLEY FIRM THRIVES DESPITE TECH SLOWDOWN

NEW YORK CITY -- Despite volatility in the tech sector, Silicon Alley-based Mediapolis, a Web engineering company, is experiencing steady growth for the sixth consecutive year. Mediapolis announced today the launch of Cambridge-based management consulting firm Monitor Group's new website (http://www.monitor.com). Mediapolis also announced their appointment by WQXR, the classical radio station of the New York Times (http://www.wqxr.com).

Using its Iowa(tm) Software Suite, Mediapolis created a content intensive website for the Monitor Group designed to accommodate Web-based data submission. With Iowa(tm), data can be published to Monitor's site from any of the company's 28 offices worldwide at the press of a button using a standard Web browser. Iowa(tm) gave Mediapolis the power to engineer a flexible platform that can grow with expanded features, including intranet and extranet, and the software muscle needed to build the Monitor site in record time.

"Mediapolis delivered Monitor Group's site ahead of schedule and under budget," said Mediapolis principal Carl Pritzkat. "Traffic to Monitor's new website is higher than expected, and 20 percent of new recruits are reaching the company through the site."

Mediapolis also created a CD-ROM for Monitor Group, with another currently in production. The CD-ROMs present full-scale multimedia presentations used for employee recruitment and business development and integrate seamlessly with the website.

The New York Times' WQXR chose Mediapolis not only for the speed and flexibility of their Iowa(tm) Software Suite, but because of their extensive experience in classical music. Mediapolis has created successful websites for BMG Classics, Sony Classical and ECM Records. WQXR's new site will expand its audience at a time when classical music radio stations are being forced off the radio dial.

"Since 1994 we've been talking efficiency and profitability while the rest of Silicon Alley shouted 'bigger, faster, more expensive'," said Carl Pritzkat. "We continue to thrive because we've developed software tools and an experienced team that knows how to get the job done right the first time, and in record time."

The Iowa(tm) Software Suite by Mediapolis combines customized open code software with industry-standard hardware to create tools and feature modules easily deployed for any project. In addition to speeding the deployment of websites, Iowa(tm) integrates the open source power of Apache and PERL with exclusive Iowa(tm) feature modules making sites easy to maintain and completely scaleable without any architectural limitations.

Mediapolis (www.mediapolis.com ) creates technology that simplifies the production of high profile, high performance websites. Since 1994, Mediapolis has used the Iowa(tm) Software Suite to build more than 100 sites for clients ranging from Fortune 50s to bootstrap startups.
