WORLD AIDS DAY PROMPTS RENEWED EMPHASIS ON WEB
Mediapolis Relaunches Sites for amfAR and New York AIDS Coalition

NEW YORK -- Manhattan-based Web engineering company Mediapolis marked World AIDS Day with the relaunch of the New York AIDS Coalition's Web site, nyaidscoalition.org, and the reintroduction of amfar.org, the site for the American Foundation for AIDS Research (amfAR) which it relaunched in Spring 2001. Both sites were completely reengineered and redesigned by Mediapolis for their re-launches.

"Never has the mission of both of these organizations been more important than as we begin this 22nd year of the battle against AIDS," said Mediapolis principal Carl Pritzkat. "All of us at Mediapolis are proud that we can play a part in the invaluable work both of these groups do to end this terrible epidemic."

amfAR is the nation's leading nonprofit organization dedicated to the support of HIV/AIDS research, AIDS prevention, treatment education, and the advocacy of sound AIDS-related public policy. With its freedom and flexibility to respond quickly to emerging opportunities and its determination to invest in cutting-edge science, amfAR plays a unique, catalytic role in accelerating the pace of HIV/AIDS research and achieving real breakthroughs. Funded by voluntary contributions from individuals, foundations, and corporations, amfAR has invested nearly $190 million in support of its mission since 1985 and funded grants to over 1,900 research teams worldwide.

The New York AIDS Coalition (NYAC) is an alliance of community-based service providers and their supporters working for increased funding and fair policies for people living with HIV/AIDS in New York State. NYAC was founded in 1988 to overcome the overwhelming information and communication gaps that exist between community-based organizations and policy makers in New York State. Today, NYAC has approximately 200 members and is committed to advancing a community-based, front-line response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic.

For both organizations, Mediapolis has deployed its Iowa® content management system to give them the control they need over their content. Mediapolis also worked closely with both organizations to determine which Web-based features best suited their particular content and constituencies.

Mediapolis (www.mediapolis.com ) creates technology that simplifies the production of high profile, high performance Web sites. Since 1994, Mediapolis has used the Iowa® Software Suite to build more than 150 sites for clients including Sony Music, BMG Entertainment and Johnson & Johnson.
