ONE MILLION BOWLERS BREAK RECORD NEW YORK -- Bowl.com, the official Web site of seven of the largest, most important bowling organizations in the world, broke all previous traffic records in March, exceding one million visitors over a one month period. The site, which is an umbrella site for the American Bowling Congress, the Women's International Bowling Congress and the Young American Bowling Alliance, amongst other organizations, and is operated by Bowling Inc., presents news, resources, event information and registration and an automated system for tens of thousands of local leagues to post their scores and standing sheets. "This unbelievable traffic growth is powerful evidence of the incredible job Bowl.com is doing to give its audience the tools and resources they want," said Mediapolis principal Carl Pritzkat. "Bowl.com's parent organizations have millions of members, and each of these members has a great, useful reason to log onto the site." Bowl.com launched in March 1999 using Mediapolis's Iowaš software for the management and operation of the site. Besides presenting all of the site's content dynamically from a database, Iowa also communicates in real time with Bowling, Inc.'s IBM AS400 mainframe. In order to accommodate the sites 4,000,000+ monthly page views, Iowa operates the site over multiple servers. Headquartered in Greendale, Wis., Bowling Inc. is a non-profit management group that creates and delivers quality programs and services through its Shared Services operations for bowling's business partners. Bowling Inc.'s vision is to be bowling's premier service provider. Mediapolis (www.mediapolis.com ) creates technology that simplifies the production of high profile, high performance Web sites. Since 1994, Mediapolis has used the Iowa® Software Suite to build more than 180 sites for clients including Sony Music, The New York Times and Johnson & Johnson.
