10 MILLION POSTS IN TEN YEARS NEW YORK, NY -- Lesbian and gay news and gossip site Datalounge.com announced it received its 10,000,000th user post today. Founded in June 1995, the site has long been famous for the volume -- and content -- of user posts it receives on topics ranging from U.S. foreign policy to Oscar Awards gowns, some of which have been quoted in other media outlets like ABC's THE VIEW, Entertainment Tonight and The New York Times. The software that manages the millions of posts the site receives and displays was created by Mediapolis, inc. "There are many challenges associated with operating Datalounge.com," said Mediapolis principal Carl Pritzkat. "At any given moment on the site, there are such a huge volume of posts that it's difficult to present them in a way that isn't a daunting mess -- to say nothing of operating the whole system in a way that delivers performance without sacrificing cost-efficiency." Efficiency is the keyword at Datalounge.com, which services its hundreds of thousands of monthly visitors with no full-time staff. The site generates revenue through ad sales and paid subscriptions, which allow users to block all ads and visit the site during daily "prime time." Mediapolis (www.mediapolis.com ) creates technology that simplifies the production of high profile, high performance Web sites. Since 1994, Mediapolis has created custom software solutions to build more than 220 sites for clients including Sony Music, The New York Times, Johnson & Johnson and Volvo Cars.
